About the Heavy Sugar Duo

Drummer Felix Macnee (Slim Jenkins) and singer-cellist Unwoman (Stripmall Architecture, Voltaire, Rasputina) met in August 2010. The week of their second rehearsal at San Francisco's 24th St BART station they'd booked two gigs.

"Heavy sugar" is Jazz Age slang for "a lot of money," and also evokes the pair's hard/sweet dichotomy. Their current repertoire includes Unwoman's catchiest tunes, modern and classic covers, and instrumental improvisations.
